Mark this day Dear Diary for this is the day where I won my first crown! Also won Best National Costume (courtesy of JR Magdaleno.)

I still can’t get over the fact that I joined a Beauty Pageant. It was absolutely unintended. I went to a designer friend (Walter’s) shop and was invited to join. I went to another designer friend (JR) ang got great clothes so I decided to join the said pageant. Now, I can definitely say that I’m more confident and prouder than ever.Tiara

The show was more difficult than our debate try outs. Aside from the fact that We wore painful stilettos for two hours, there were three extensive queston and answer portions which, apparently, I dominated.

Yours Truly, Benny (or should I say… Miss Philippines.)

Dear Diary,

Got my peripheral x-ray today. I was totally gagging on that friggin machine. Thank goodness I had my Dad’s driver in tow or I might have totally lost it. Videoked tonight with fab friends; my treat. Jepong was doing his impression of the koral koral disco dance routine, that always gets me laughing like hell.

The past four days I’ve been going home around 4 to 5 AM. Been going out with my new found fab friends (Myra, Al, Noco, Arcy and such). I’m having a great time with them. I’m feeling very positive now despite the lack of decent sleep. I’v been catching up with slumber at Arnold’s pad. Hope to play badminton with them soon; it seems like they’re good. Been looking for a challenge lately. Gotta work up these muscles of mine before they totally turn into flab!

A friend of mine (Mikki) told me to post more of the things that are in my thoughts about issues and such. I think he’s right though. People might get the impression that I’m a mindless bimbo. Not that I’m totally into pleasing other people, that’s not my thing. But, I don’t want to be dismissed as a dumb brunette naman.

So I’ll be posting commentaries on issues soon. Di ko lang alam where to start. Got so much to say on so many things e. In fairness, I have not been writing about anything else other than my escapades and some boys noh?

Watch out for my comments on Liberation Theology, Femenism and the media, the pragmatism needed by the new Kyoto Protocol and the effects of Brasil’s economic empowerment with respect to the declining oil price in the world market. Promise…

Hello my dear Diary,

It’s a Saturday and I had a fabulous time at my Dentist’s. I went there with no less than "The Icon." It was such a happy moment; her drilling on my molars and me choking on dental pumice. Remind self to get panoramic x-ray. I may have to get braces.

Got the most depressing news from our driver that day. I had abandoned my chances of going to Singapore this month coz’ I’m $200 short talaga. Then, I was told that my Dad, as a matter of fact, had the money for my trip. But, it had been missing, the whole bundle of it. I wished I hadn’t found out nalang.

This evening, my lovely and vivacious friend, Arnold, and I went to his friend’s house with Myla Sinsuat and Al. I met Nicco, Jeevs, R.C. and such. One of them a former crush of mine. I didn’t know he was from Cotabato City too. Had dinner there and went out to check out QC’s birthday bash at the Pacific Harbour. I would have loved to be at Liquid coz’ Mr. Perfect might very well be there. Ava, the Mexican gurl, was as drunk as a mule, flaunting her mamacious assets.Nomo

Anyhow, we ended up at Blue Post Bar. I don’t usually go there coz’ I’m not much for billiards. Arnold had left with Andrew to some videoke joint so Myra and I were the only gurls there with the beavy of men. I had fun! It has been some time since I’ve been around people I can easily connect with. I always found it difficult dealing with peeps here in Davao; the language, the culture and all. We were the very last people to leave the place. Got home at 5 AM.

Lovingly yours,

Benny

P.S.: A very surprising person texted me that night.

Diary Entry 05/11/05

Wednesday, May 11th, 2005

Dear Diary,

I think our documentary work is going very well. We’ve been extremely busy and harassed.

I am somewhat bothered by the demeanour of our school’s security personnel. The absence of their breeding is something which disturbs me. I don’t know if they go through a seminar on etiquette or something but all I can say is that any trace of sophistication is absolutely absent from their behaviour. They’re so "bisaya" reminiscent of farming societies bordering the Davao del Norte region guised in blue and white garb which seem to make them feel authority beyond propriety.40s

It’s a sad thing. One of them is exclusively fond with picking on me; watching every hemline, every sleeve length, every foot ware, it’s ludicrous.

It’s summer and we’re living in a tropical country. Why, oh why should we wear buttoned up shirts, long pants or skirts and not wear Havayanas and tank tops when we’re doomed to have sweltering heat this season? The proponents of this lunacy are the old maids and neurotics in the administration. They must mean well but we’re living in a different age with different mind frames, not to mention a different temperature. Good for them ‘coz they’re in their air conditioned offices and classrooms the whole day. The equation: buttoned-up church clothes = good people doesn’t necessarily follow anymore. Why do we have to look so plain? It’s almost saying if you look chic you’re a whore.

Why Dear Diary?

Yours Truly, Benny

Dear Diary,

I’m quite ecstatic today as our documentary project is coming along nicely. Tomorrow, we shall be shooting the heck out of this city. Of course, as director, I shall ascertain that none of our footage will be crappy. I am now trying to convince myself that I am Giuseppe Tornatore in the body of Monica Bellucci.

I have fashioned my staff a golden light-diffuser/reflector; a rebellion against the plain and typical silver variety. hahaha… Our interviewees shall glow like a beacon them be a supermodel- actress or a greasy quadriplegic lambanog peddler from Senegal.

Yap Today, I had the chance to have Mr. Perfect answer my survey questionnaire. ahh… This, of course, with the aid of my trusty informants in yonder Kebab. I can’t reveal their identities as it may endanger them and our operation. Victims were also Mr. Anonymous who turns out to be "Hans Jergens" of German descent (me too) and The Korean Dude (who is of course from Korea.) My! The things rich kids buy nowadays…

I think that’s it for today. Don’t forget to post a comment.

Truly Yours, Benny the Ball

Dear Diary,

Today, I got fetched for a gig hosting a Music Video production so it’s going to be fun. It’s on Monday so watch out! I’m giving VJ Denise a run for her money.

I saw Mr. Perfect once again. No! I’m not stalking him; It’s just that we hang around at the same joint. All the cute guys hang out at that place so there… Oh, and did I mention he’s so beautiful?

Tonight I had the most fun! Michelle, Moxy, Andrew, "The Icon" and I ate out at this Barbecue place. After which, we crossed paths with buxom Claire. We went to this videoke bar. The Icon wowed the audience with her immaculate diva voice and it was a total blast! Fun Fun Fun! Lost my voice that night. The Icon (a.k.a. Jepong) was tipsy and Claire was catatonic. hahaha…

Very Truly Yours, Benny

Testimony: Sweet Bucayo

Wednesday, May 4th, 2005

MY mom and dad just went by here in Davao after their trip to Ilo- ilo for the family reunion. Mom bought my sis and I this "sweet bucayo" from San Joaquin (family origin.)

It’s light coloured unlike the usual dark variety. It taste just like the common bucayo, only lighter and it has this yummy yema-like flavour. You should try it!

000_1 It's Like That
Verse 1
I came to have a party
Open off that Bacardi
Feeling so hot tamale

Purple taking me higher
I’m lifted and I like it
Boy you got me inspired
Baby come and get it if you’re really feelin’ me

Cause it’s my night
No stress no fights
I’m leavin’ it all behind
No tears no time to cry
Just making the most of life

Chorus 1
Everybody is livin’ it up
All the fellas’ keep lookin’ at us
Cause me and my girls on the floor like what
While the dj keeps on spinnin’ the cut
It’s like that y’all (that y’all)
That y’all (that y’all)
It’s like that a a that
A like that y’all (that y’all)

Verse 2
You like this and you know it
Caution, it’s so explosive
Them chickens is ash and I’m lotion
Baby come and get it
Let me give you what you need
It’s a special occasion
Mimi’s emancipation
A cause for celebration
I ain’t gonna let nobody’s drama bother me

Dear Diary,

I slept the whole day today.

Tonight, I got a chance to chat again with fabulous friend, Yelena D’Attoma. She’s back in the U.K. now. Uk We met almost two years ago. I met her and Miss Aliah Heitz in my Biology Laboratory class. The three of us are all mixed so it was fun. I just remembered, we had the weirdest teacher.

Hasta la vista, Benny
